Counseling Prevalent In-Center Hemodialysis Patients on Home Dialysis Modalities

There are practical and clinical advantages to home dialysis modalities and most nephrologists indicate that they would opt for these should they ever require dialysis themselves. Despite this, only a minority of patients in the United States dialyzes at home. Modality counseling for patients who are already on in-center hemodialysis is an area of opportunity for increasing the home dialysis population that comes with a unique set of challenges. In the attached White Paper we discuss the issues encountered in providing modality education to these patients and strategies to overcome them.
